Chapter 3 : Starting With Level Design

Hey there, it's been a while since I last updated my blog. Sorry for the delay as I had difficulties with my college's assignments. Starting from this post I'll be updating on my Design Processes for my final project which is the game design itself. I'll be starting off with the Level Design.



The design approach that I chosen for this game would be the 2D - RPG game approach. Why I chose this is because most games that has narratives containing mythical or folklore successfully delivered their stories through this genres. A few that I found as references would be the Fire Emblem series, Persona series or the Final Fantasy series.
My Level Design Moodboard

There are numerous 2D RPG art style but I prefer to choose this because this art style has a unique,classic feel to it and also suits the mythical/folklore-ish environment to it.

Also I chose this art style for my game because I am using this project to polish my skills on my crafting 2D-design artefacts for future development.





Now that I have chosen the references as a lead, I then start off with the sketching of the level designs.
